You can create a model by importing a bitmap image. Examples of files you can import include .bmp, .dib, .rle, .jpg, .jpeg, .jfif, .gif, .emf, .wmf, .tif, .tiff, .png, and .ico. When creating a model from an image, you must specify the method by which you want to import the file.

To create a model by importing a bitmap image:

1.    Display the Open dialog:

·         If you have not yet created a model, click Open on the start screen.

·         If you have already created a model, select File > Open.

2.    Select the file you want to import.

3.    Click Open. The Open dialog closes and the Set Model Size dialog is displayed, which shows the Height and Width of the model.

4.    Select the Units in which you want to work.

5.    Choose how you want to specify the size of the model. Select:

·         Image size to use the image's dimensions, and then enter the Height and Width.

·         Scanned d.p.i. to use the image's resolution, in dots per inch, and then enter the d.p.i..

Tip: Reduce the d.p.i. to increase the model's size; increase the d.p.i. to reduce the model's size.

6.    Enter a Height in Z value to specify the maximum height of the model.

7.    Click the centre or a corner of the white box to specify the Origin of the model.

8.    Click OK to create the model and import the bitmap image. The dialog closes and the image is displayed in the 3D view of the model screen.
